Gratitude in Action
A volunteer tells his story: Gratitude in Action
One night while our Exit teams were distributing hot chocolate to the homeless in the streets of Athens, a young Indian asked me to walk with him for a while.
"Of course" I answered, and followed him.
He wanted to know if we were the team that helped the poor. When I said yes, he said he had something to give me. Before I could understand what was happening, he put 20 euros in my hand!
"But why?" I asked him in astonishment.
He explained to me in broken Greek that when he arrived in Greece he was initially homeless. During that time one of our teams had passed by the place where he slept and left him food.
"With this money, I want you to help other poor people, as you helped me then," he told me as he walked away.
