Georgia: When fear and anxiety turn into courage and optimism
When Georgia* contacted us, she was alone, pregnant and in despair. As she opened up to us, she began to talk about the father of her child and described him as a ruthless, irritable and unpredictable man... This made it difficult for her to decide.
On one hand, she wanted to keep the baby, since, as she said, she did not believe in the idea of abortion; on the other hand, she was afraid of having this man as her child's father. As she was under a lot of pressure from her surroundings, we gave her space and time to do what she needed the most: to talk! We listened to her concerns, fears and anxieties and felt compassion as she "struggled" with her thoughts. A few days passed and when we met her again, we noticed she was different. She was calmer, more relaxed and smiling.
Something had changed, she had made up her mind! She was going to keep her baby because she couldn't live with the idea of doing otherwise. Her problems and scruples didn't change. Her attitude changed. She looked at this decision with courage and optimism, because she knew - as she said - that she was doing the right thing and that she would make it. Georgia, we will be by your side.
