The Need

With Greece steeped in religiosity and having less than 1% professing Christians in the country, a fraction of these believers live in the Greek isles. Many islands have only one believer; some have none. Reaching island inhabitants with the gospel presents a special challenge to traditional mission strategies. And just beyond the Greek horizon, lie Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt and North Africa. Unique opportunities arise for effective outreach using boats.

Our Response

Broad Reach Maritime has a twofold vision, that of Island Reach and discipleship.

Island Reach exists to reach the islands and coastline of Greece, along with the surrounding nations. With very few believers inhabiting the islands, Island Reach seeks to support local churches, encourage lone believers and lend a helping hand wherever needed by visiting Greece’s many ports.

Sailing offers the distinctive opportunity to disciple young Greek people who join us as crew. Upon returning home, many of these youth report their lives have been dramatically changed by the experience.

Your Participation

You do not need to have any sailing experience to join the team, although training is necessary to be part of the crew. If you have a sense of adventure and a servant heart, this is the place for you!
