Uganda: A mission of love growing strong
Our heart for spreading the Gospel beats not only in Greece but also in Uganda—a "field" ready to receive the love of Christ! For the past 13 years, following God's command to reach the nations, we have been serving the Lukaya community, as the Body of Christ operates globally as one! Uganda is a country full of children: in 2021, it had the third highest birth rate in the world, with 75% of the population under the age of 25. The majority live on less than $1 a day, facing poverty, poor health conditions, lack of education, and social unrest.
We, as a mission, have been serving in Uganda for 13 years through Dr. Haris Macris and his family, who are HM missionaries dedicated to providing healthcare and hope to the local community.
At the end of February, HM’s President/CEO Johnathan Macris, his wife Miriam, Hope Ministries Director Sarah Wheway, and Neil Macris participated in a special milestone day for the project: the inauguration of the clinic laboratory at the Hellenic Medical Centre Clinic, led by Dr. Haris Macris, which cares for the health of children, staff, and the local community.
Eagles Wings Children's Village (EWCV)
EWCV is a Christian ministry in Uganda that serves orphaned and vulnerable children in partnership with HM. Since its founding in 2002 by former HM partners Bill and Ann Peckham, the ministry has grown to support over 700 students as of January 2022. Deeply moved by the plight of poor and abandoned children during their visit to Uganda, Bill and Ann sold their home and property in Canada to relocate there.
What began as an orphanage has since expanded into a comprehensive ministry, including a school (nursery through high school), a clinic, a boarding section, and a church. At its core, EWCV remains rooted in the gospel, nurturing children through the teaching of Scripture and spiritual guidance.
