New Life in north-western Greece

Imagine more than 30 Afghan women crowded into a container home in a Greek refugee camp to hear the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a reality and we give God all the glory for the ongoing ministry in Ioannina and three nearby refugee camps.

What began as a bible study during Operation Joshua 2018 has expanded to include a community centre and ongoing outreach to Greeks, refugees and immigrants both in the city and the surrounding refugee camps.

We believe the New Life Community Centre - a partnership between Hellenic Ministries, Frontiers Germany and I58 - is an important bridge into the community. We are eager to see the full potential of this space realized through bible studies, youth group meetings, love meals and language classes.

Zina, our dear co-worker, is working full-time in Ioannina, building relationships with both the local Greek Evangelical Church and the refugee community. A seasoned missionary couple from the United Stated will be serving alongside Zina for the next three months, and various other missionaries plan to strengthen the ministry through short-term involvement this summer. At the same time, a family of churches from England is sending a short-term team to Ioannina to serve the refugee community and to encourage the university students from the local church.
