Porto Astro is our Educational Training and Social Development Center (ETSDC) dedicated to building up the next generation of leaders – especially those of the Middle East and the refugee community.

This rugged piece of land lies just north of Athens in beautiful Skorponeria (“scattered waters”) horseshoe bay, opposite an impressive, rugged rock-faced mountain. Porto Astro was an abandoned overgrown olive orchard with approximately 2,000 wild olive trees of all sizes. Today, tamed and set in its serene and rustic surroundings, it stands alone and removed from the crowded city - an outdoor haven serving refugees, families, youth, and adults. Training and discipleship in this unique environment provide a quintessential experience.

Porto Astro (Port of the Star) is also the home base for the maritime Broad Reach ministry, high-energy sports activities, and retreats for the marginalized. The highly committed staff offer all who come the opportunity to experience the love of Jesus in a unique and impacting way.

This summer we've had the privilege of hosting different groups including programs specifically organized for refugee men, refugee women, refugee families, Greek teens, Greek kids, local communities, a leadership conference for Muslim background youth from Egypt, and not least, a special event for nearly 100 Ukrainians suffering from the impact and trauma of war. Hundreds of people of all ages from around the world have been refreshed, taught, encouraged, some even baptized, and many strengthened in their faith and journey.

Our vision is being realized by seeing Porto Astro hosting and serving people, beyond the intense summer months, into the rest of the year. We are especially encouraged to see refugee men experiencing events more routinely through the winter months, deepening their confidence in the scripture, relationships, and service! More educational experiences are in the plans, for the marginalized and hurting communities. Focusing especially on the refugee communities, we aim to continue to provide a safe and refreshing environment.
