Turn the world upside down
A refugee woman turned our world upside down during a recent visit. She lives alone in a one-person tent in a nearby camp; currently, she lives in a cold tent since it is winter in Athens. Our purpose in visiting was to give a small gift and also share encouragement through prayer. When we asked about any additional needs she exclaimed with much gratitude and joy that she lacks nothing and that God has been generous with her!
The visit turned upside down when she told us she had made lists of refugees more needy in her camp and worked with her church to gather the needed items; they planned to share those gifts and pray with the other refugees. We came away amazed and encouraged by her generosity of spirit and care for others during her own time of uncertainty and need. She showed us what being a follower of Jesus looks like in action.
Philippians 2:3-4 "…in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others".
