The Covid-19 pandemic also brought changes to Alto Peru, as residents were quarantined for 100 days. In the last 2-3 months, adults are allowed to move around normally, but children and the elderly are still restricted. In fact, due to the high number of cases, it seems that there is a possibility that the residents will be quarantined again. Almost everything is banned at the moment. Gatherings are not allowed, schools will not be open until June next year and the borders will be closed at least until December.
Unemployment is high in Peru and many families are starving. It's a sad phenomenon and now with the virus, the situation has gotten worse. In the past, many mothers would go out with their children and sell candy, but now this is not allowed either. Faced with this difficult situation, Fivos seeks ways to help the local community. Whenever he receives a donation, he buys food and distributes it to the families most in need. Almost every day he receives messages from people telling him that they have no food to feed their children.
Towards the end of last June, the coronavirus knocked on Fivos' door. The illness kept him in bed for 10 days with pain in his body, head and high fever. Fortunately, he had no respiratory problems or any other side effects. During this time, a woman from the church came to help with the children. This woman is deaf, like one of the children living with Fivos, so her help was valuable.
There are two things that Fivos is very concerned about in his ministry. The first is that due to the restrictions the home gathering takes place via video call. However, people find it difficult to sit behind a screen, they feel that the personal relationship is lost, and so participation is significantly reduced. The second thing that concerns him is his older 'children'. There are two or three who have become addicted to drugs and another two who have left their girlfriends pregnant. All these children have heard of God from Fivos and the change He can bring to their lives. His desire is for them to see the need for Jesus Christ in their lives.
